The course aims to give students a knowledge of a broad variety of fine children’s books, recognizing the diversity of children, and learning both children’s changing preferences as they mature, and the ways in which children and books can be brought together—learning to help make the meeting a happy one. Students are able to read some of the great works in children’s literature and in the process, the elements of literature will be introduced to them which will enable them to understand and appreciate children’s and young adult literature in depth. This course aims to train students to read children’s literary works. In-class reading will be focused on two main genres: Picture Books and Digital Stories.
