因應全球化的潮流與提昇國家競爭力為目標，本系除了外語能力的養成之外，專業技能的培養與訓練及提升與實際操練成為配合全球化的潮流與提昇國家競爭力不可或缺的一環。因此本課程將藉由本系語言、商務旅運模組課程之規劃優勢，將透過語言與專業知識學習之融合，培育本系學生應具有基礎英文閱讀能力外，更具備會議展覽相關產業之專業閱讀技巧。為符合本課程開設之目標，本課程將結合基礎英文閱讀教學為教學主軸，授課內容結合會展產業(Meeting, Incentive Travel, Convention, Exhibition)相關專業閱讀，旨在原有的基礎閱讀架構上加入會展所需的專業技巧，由淺入深發展出ESP的課程設計。另附以其他文化教學活動，透過多元學習，提升學生英語閱讀能力與技巧。
The goal of this course is to help students develop the critical reading skills they will need for academic, personal and/or career purposes. Students can acquire academic learning skills, such as the ability to take notes, make inferences and understand cause and effect. Students will also have the opportunity to explore various topic themes such as exploration, business and finance, family changes, environment, human beings, urban planning, and medicine and health. In this class, students will :
1. Expand their vocabulary from about 1,500 to 2,100 words.
2. Activate their knowledge and motivation for longer academic texts comprehension.
3. Reinforce grammar rules they have learned in other classes.
4. Improve their pronunciation and conversation skills.
5. Encourage their comprehensive and autonomy learning.
