The main objective/goal of this course is to improve your English vocabulary and speaking skills for the Specific Purpose of communicating in the Food Service Industries. That makes this an English for a Specific Purpose (ESP) Course. We will be focusing on communicative speaking tasks; that is, speaking tasks in which the primary function (main objective) is to communicate appropriately (in the correct format and style of) a set task so that your interlocutor (the person/people you are speaking with) can clearly understand what you mean. This course is best understood as an English Food Services Workshop; in other words, you will be expected to spend the majority of class time speaking and studying relevant vocabulary. Homework will mainly consist of using Quizlet (www.quizlet.com) to memorize vocabulary from the course book.
