The main purpose of this course is to help students develop language skills and language test-taking strategies. For the development of language skills, students are expected to learn:
1. sets of vocabulary relevant to comprehension of the passages
2. parts of speech relevant to grammatical structure of the sentences
3. different topics of the passages that could bring up the background knowledge of the test-taker.

For developing test taking strategies, students are expected to know:
4. how to analyze words and the word family and by using the word formation parts such as roots, prefixes, and suffixes.
5. How to analyze the test items for the test questions by using grammatical knowledge.
6. How to analyze each reading passage to grasp the main idea, and
7. How to first analyze the test questions to provide topic tips for a direction guiding of the reading comprehension.
