Introduction to Western Literature” comprises a broad survey of literary and philosophical texts covering mainly the literary works of Classical Mythology and the Bible. Some of the choicest ancient Greek & Roman classics and some major texts of the Judeo-Christian tradition will be studied closely. The purpose of this course is to help students to have thorough familiarity with backgrounds of western literature so that they will be able to appreciate and be more competent and knowledgeable when they read or study English and American literatures.
